Hi, I am Simon. I live in the US, and I am 13 years old. I have been reading your Book series, Wolf Brother or The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness, for about 6 months now, and I have loved it! I have read almost 7 books of the series, and as of now, I am waiting for the other two books to be mailed. The questions I have about the books today are whether, if events had been different, would Renn have mated with Bale? Because it seems that Renn had liked him. Second, if you made another wolf brother book, what would it be about? And finally, where did you learn to write the way you did? Thank you! I hope to write to you another day!!!!!

Hello, Simon. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the Wolf Brother books! (And I hope you don’t mind, but I’ve slightly changed your wording, to remove the spoiler.) To answer your questions: if things hadn’t happened as they did in Oath Breaker, I don’t think Renn would have mated with Bale – even though, as you rightly say, she does like him. However the clues to her feelings are quite subtle in the various books, so I prefer to leave the final answer up to readers like you, so that you can make up your own minds. I’m afraid I can’t really answer your second question, because I haven’t thought about writing another book in the series! To my mind, nine is a magic number, so I prefer to leave the series with Wolf Bane, where I’ve given the characters a good send-off. As for where I learnt to write the way I do: that’s just trial and error over many years, including masses of re-writing with every book; plus, of course, reading a lot. (I read partly to find out how other writers tell stories, but mostly just for fun.) Thank you for getting in touch – and I hope you enjoy Skin Taker and Wolf Bane when they arrive. May the guardian run with you! With best wishes, Michelle
