my name is Andy Vance and my 9th grade English class read your book Wolf Brother, and I really liked it it was very entertaining and I can't wait to read the others. I want to know your thoughts on how you made this book.

Hi, Andy.  First I had to read lots of books about the Stone Age, and about wolves.  I also read a great deal about more recent hunter-gatherers, who still live in traditional ways, such as the indigenous people of Australia and North and South America, the Inuit of the Arctic, the Ainu of Japan, and so on.  Their customs and beliefs helped me imagine what Torak’s people would have believed.  Finally, and most importantly, I got to know some real wolves at a wolf sanctuary in the UK, and I travelled in northern Scandinavia and Finland, camping in the forest, to get the feel of Torak’s world.  All this took ages and was quite difficult at times, but it was worth it, to make Torak’s world feel real to readers.  I hope you enjoy the rest of the series.  With best wishes, Michelle
