Hi Michelle, my name is Perets and I 11 years old. I read every evening from your series "Chronicle of Ancient Darkness" with my mother to get better at English (Only the first three books translated into Hebrew) Now we reading Oath Breaker and I want to ask you why did you did that's sad thing in chapter 1?
Thanks you, Perets

Dear Perets, thanks for your message, and well done for writing in English, I’m most impressed. Thank you too for asking that question in a way that doesn’t spoil the story for other readers. To answer it: I’d planned that sad thing from the start (ie before I even wrote Wolf Brother), as a way of showing how menacing the Soul-Eaters are. You see, I don’t think we would really feel their evil if all the good characters were to survive. So I needed the Soul-Eaters to do something which would directly affect Torak and Renn. (Also, it fits in with the theme of the book, which is revenge.) Thank you for asking this question, which is one I don’t think I’ve been asked before! And I really hope that you enjoy the remaining books in the series: there’s Ghost Hunter after Oath Breaker – followed by the three sequels I wrote a few years later. And may the guardian run with you! With very best wishes, Michelle
